Spring Things: The Essentials We’re Gathering for Everyday Adventures

What We’re Gathering to Inspire Our Everyday Spring Adventures

Every spring I like to have a few essentials to hand that make our outings feel effortless - nothing elaborate, just pieces that earn their place because they’re useful, comforting, help keep the children entertained, and add a little colour to our adventures. With the outdoors waking up and the days finally stretching out again, it’s the perfect time to get organised and pull together your own simple spring basket for everyday adventures. It takes me back to why we started Brambly Trails after our own move from city life to the countryside, finding pieces that actually work for the way we live now.

Here’s what we’re reaching for this season.

If you’ve got your kit sorted but need a plan for the Easter Weekend, head over to our guide on Setting Up a Simple Trail at Home. It’s the perfect way to put your spring gear, and your garden, to the test.

Children's Spring Jackets

1. A reliable cosy layer for everyone

Spring can be bright but still chilly, especially first thing in the morning. A warm, comfortable layer makes all the difference when you’re outside for a walk, or even just a bit of garden exploring.

Our Spring Jackets are designed exactly for this - soft, practical, weather-ready and easy to move in. They’re the kind of jackets you grab again and again without thinking because you know they’ll keep everyone comfortable.

Let's Go On An Adventure And Pink Cat Water Bottle

2. A sturdy cup or bottle for warm drinks

Hot chocolate on a cool spring morning is a small thing that makes an outing feel special. Whether it’s a Spring walk or just wandering around the garden, having warm drinks to hand helps keep everyone warm and happy outdoors.

My new favourite is the sturdy Let’s go on an Adventure stainless steel bottle, while the children love the colourful Mr Dino and Mrs Cat insulated bottles. All the bottles in our Refill & Roam collection are lightweight, durable and tuck easily into a basket or bag - ideal for warm drinks on the go.

3. Something for children to sketch, collect, or note down

Children naturally want to pick things up, point things out, and record what they see. Activity books and journals are the perfect place to put all this energy, and we’ve found this simple addition turns a short walk or trail into an exciting adventure with purpose.

All the books in our Journals & Learning collection are perfectly sized for popping into your bag ahead of any day out.

4. A soft blanket for the trail

No matter the Spring activity, a break along the way is always a must to refuel with a drink, a biscuit, or even a picnic lunch. Having a soft blanket to hand makes these moments feel much more comfortable and relaxing for everyone.

Our outdoor Blankets & Rugs are perfect for this. Easy to carry, warm to sit on, and sturdy enough for early-spring grass.

Children Colouring Spring Colour Pages With Bright Pens

The Finish Line

When the trail is finished, we usually need a way to bring the energy levels back down to earth. I’ve put together some Brambly Trails Spring Colouring Pages that you can download and print for free. They’re simple, nature-inspired, and easy to print at home. We use them as a wind-down activity for the children while we enjoy a more restful moment and warm drink.

You don’t need a big basket of things to make spring adventures feel special. A warm layer, a drink, a place to sit, and a small creative activity are more than enough. At Brambly Trails, the aim is never about perfection – this Spring it’s about creating comfort, connection and enjoying a bit of fresh air, especially after a long winter!

I’d honestly love to see your spring adventures. If you capture a moment, muddy knees, chocolate smudges and all, come find us on Instagram @bramblytrails. I’ll be over there sharing more of our own family chaos and inspiration.

See you on the trail,
Jen x
